new model EF66 preview on You Tube was created by garthah

this video shows pre production models of their new EF66 due for delivery in Nov 2013

It will have constant lighting and is shown pulling a rake of container cars (14) and then on 4% grade with a long string of passenger cars. (14) Looks like lots of pulling power.

looks like a real winner.

I would imagine around the same price point as the other Rokuhan locos. :)

this engine was at it inception considered the most powerfull narrow gauge loco in the world. It was designed to haul high speed containerized freight and many are sill in service with JRFreight and JRWest. in addition they were used to haul the over night trains in Japan. There are two variations the original series as shown here and the 100 series introduced in 1968. In the model it has one truck with traction two tires and one without traction tires ensuring good traction and good electrical pickup. The center truck is a dummy on the model no electrical pickup or power. The motor is small 6mm high torque double shaft motor and has new gearing ratio for good pulling power and slow speed performance. The model with have functioning lights suitable for constant lighting. No mention of DCC but frame is split frame so should be DCC friendly.
