I'm an Engineer. No not that kind, the kind that designs things. Sometimes I wish I was driving a train instead, but I like my normal hours.

I've finished recently a training course of production and processing of composite materials in Aeronautics. Now I'm searching for my first job. Meanwhile I'm full-time modeler. :)

I'm a retired Navy man. after leaving the service worked as a spray painter & sandblaster using Air spray and airless rigs painting steel. Then started my own business in 2003 installing Storage systems for warehouses. Using Pallet rack, shelving, and doing repair work. Pictures taken at Noland Co. warehouse in June 2003, Petersburgs VA. I traveled all over East Coast from Florida to Vermount USC and Calif. installing storage systems.

I'm a hospital librarian (medical textbooks and journals and online databases, not the latest Scott Thurow for the patients to read). It's quite a stretch to say how (or if) I apply what I do for a living to Z. But after a day of sometimes demanding, life-extending, practice-changing, butt-saving (theirs, not mine, in the case of the latter) work, it's a pleasant release to run trains through a mountainous, forested world of my own creation.

I'm Business Engineer and work a long time as product manager for wheelchairs and add on bikes. When I was a child I very often watch the huge steam trains passing my grandparents home. At that time I like be become a locomotive driver on some of this big steam trains. Unfortunally that times were gone. Still thinking about that to see the massive engines working pulling more than 50 heavy loaded coal cars in the Ruhrgebiet area were I grow up.
One of my favorit is the German BR 044 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DRG_Class_44

If any of you guys don't know Jim, then you have not experienced excellent modeling not only in Z but especially in HO. This is one beautiful scene.

Yeah, I think you would have to look high and low to find a nicer scene. This just seems to be the icing on the cake when it comes to scenic beauty IMHO.

Thanks fellows. Like all my layouts the scene above made it to the dumpster this October. I'm now on layout 6 or 7, not sure anymore. I just took this photo from the only finished portion of the new layout a couple of days ago. Enjoy. Jim

Jim,
I think we need to get you some serious counseling regarding all this build and destroy thing you have going. Maybe the other guys don't know the inside scoop, but I do and am only giving you a hard time.

Some may say though, "there's really something seriously wrong with a fellow who would build a picture perfect scene and the go and trash it"

Well guys, you just gotta know Jim a little better.

Your scenes just keep impressing the dickens out of me Jim.

I’ve been an Industrial Designer since 1992. I’ve specialized in heavy equipment design since 1998 but I’ve been obsessed with heavy equipment for as long as I can remember. I also like to design concept machines on my own time. Trains have always been in the heavy equipment family in my book. So they’ve been a lifelong obsession to.

One of many concept machine layouts I did for Volvo CE Road Machinery Division for the PF 6110 Blaw-Knox tracked asphalt paver. This early concept design went on to be the new PF7110 asphalt paver.
