Monster Train was created by loadmaster
On January 10th, UP ran a 3.5 mile freight from Dallas, TX to Long Beach CA.
Here is a video of that train.

Let's see ... 3.5 mile-long train would be 84 feet long if modeled in Z ... whose got the layout to run that on? I suppose at the Portland GTE shows we've been coming awfully close to having that much of a mainline but I think it would look somewhat silly with the consist fully looped around the layout, but oh what fun that would be to get and keep moving :cheer:

I have around 70 feet of mainline so I'm out. Cheers, Jim CCRR:blink:

You know guys that that train UP tested a while ago is not the longest ever run? Actually a few years ago BHP Billiton in Australia ran a test train consisting of something like 760 140-ton ore cars, with 5 sets of 2 GE AC6000 spread into the train... Total length was around 7 km and total weight 107000 (one hundred and seven thousand) metric tons....B) In Z we would not be far from 100' / 30 meter...:woohoo:
