This part of the forum has been very quiet for far too long. Are we all running our layouts without locomotives?

Have you ever bought a loco and when it was received in the post you realised it wasn't what you thought it was going to be? Obviously we're talking about online purchases here - when you buy from a bricks and mortar shop you can see the item. What did you do about it?

My one experience was to buy a Marklin 8823 (SBB Re 4/4), which somehow I confused with the Ae 6/6 (8850 - the aliens stole part of my brain!). Since then I've always checked the database on Z-World or the Marklin product database before committing to the purchase. It's a nice little machine, but not what I really wanted. I'm still tossing up whether to sell it on eBay or keep it to pull a "visiting" Era 4 Swiss train.

Hey Gary, I recently recieved the MTL runner pack of D&RGW gondolas that i pre-ordered a while back, and i have to say i was not excited when they arrived. Maybe it was the fact that the cars were all orange, or maybe because i'm not a huge fan of open generic gondloas, but i found myself wondering why i ordered them in the first place.. I figure i jumped on them because their Rio Grande, and i like to collect anything Grande, but now there sitting in their boxes on the self.

So yep... i've been there too. Sometimes you get excited and rder stuff, and when it come in the mail, its not what you had thought...

I ordered a SF SD45 from Buki's and received a SF F45. When I called them they appologized and said they didn't have the SD45. I sent it back in exchange for an SF SD40 Snoot. It cost me an extra $10 to send the mistake back and I never got a SF SD45.bh

I bought a secondhand DB 111 recently and got one, but it was the engine from an old set that was never available separately. I didn't complain...

Well, I came home with an accidental purchase last year. It was a few cars and track....in Z. I really didn't mean to buy them. I was looking for some N scale stuff but somehow managed to put Z in my basket too. Turned out to be a really good "accidental purchase"! B)
