Hello!! was created by Mr. White
Hello my name is Zac, I live in Tucson, Az and I am seriously considering starting a small Z scale layout. Space is tight so the first layout is gonna be a small oval or double oval. I signed up so that I could benefit from all your experience as I am new to the hobby.

Thanks in advance

Zac

Zac,
I forgot to ask you......have you ever heard of or seen or taken the Verde Canyon RR scenic trip? My wife and I are wanting to do that and I'm even thinking of getting a Verde Canyon F7 painted up along with the cars and build a stand alone point to point.

The site sure shows some beautiful scenery and we're itching to see some of Arizona.

I have not done that one but there was one I went on in Benson, I believe it was the San Pedro train tour. It was a 50 Mile 4 hr trip with restored vintage passenger cars. If I was more attentive in my highschool days I would have taken lots of pictures. Unfortunately I didn't even have a camera and now that attraction is closed.

Zac, Hello and welcome. Did you give some thought to whether you are modeling North America or Euro? Good luck. Cheers, Jim CCRR:)

Most likely North America, I'm either gonna do some midwest stuff from Oklahoma where I was born, or Arizona influenced desert where I currently reside. Oklahoma would have some nice green areas and agricultural industry which would be fun. Arizona would have some interesting ghost mining towns and such. It kind of depends on which set I end up winning ;). I'm new to the whole modeling thing, but my father in-law has been doing trains for some time and he'll help me out. I'm also gonna help him in the landscaping and possible "real" water features for his G-scale set.

Welcome, Zac. Since it sounds like you'll be modeling North American, you might find this resource helpful:

americanzscale.org/

It provides links to manufacturers, retailers, information and layouts, all North American based.

Thanks for the info David, I have been reading your pages quite frequently. I wanted to do t gauge but the limited availability makes it hard for someone who is quite new to the hobby.

May I suggest you check out Jim, CCRR layout pictures. I'm sure he could also send you some off form, he does great work and always asking me to bring down my German steam engine..

Mr. White, The Singapore layout is 29" in diameter. I made it for a fellow and he has it in his coffee table, in Singapore of course. Try this for more photos. Cheers, Jim CCRR:)

Welcome Zac, I too am somewhat new. I have both American and German sets made by Marklin. After having seen what is available from other manufactures I am wishing I went with another brand, strictly for the diversity. Be forewarned, I type terrible and will no doubt bring you a few laughs. :)
