Hobo Tim's "Skunk Works" was created by HoboTim

I want to start a thread to post some of my future projects so people can see what Hobo Tim is up too. A place where an all out project or maybe just a small teaser is posted. Teaser, makes for good conversation trying to guess what the project really is. I'll have to remember to include lots of future teasers. Anyways, here is the first entry; Sorry, not Teaser this Time!

Some of you know, who read the Z on Trainboard, that I recently sent the artwork to a professional etcher with the corrected SD70ACe handrails for approval and processing. Also included in this artwork were several other projects, one of which is for a small modern yard office/whatever you want to use it for, building!

I got the inspiration for this building from an HO layout, possibly Eddie's. Can't remember for it has been well over a year since I first saw the photos. Anyways, here is a photo of the HO model building. The building I have being etched is very close in dimensions to what this building is. When etched, a supply of these buildings will be few due to the fact of many projects on the sheet of brass. But more can be made soon thereafter if needed. Please, I am not taking reservations or pre-orders, just want to show you what I am working on. More to come.

It will come with a cast resin base. The roof vent shown in the photo is for large warehouses and not small buildings. Some detail items such as electrical meter and an A/C unit could be added. Depending on the first one built, I will decide if the brass is easily bendable (Which I hope was incorporated correctly this time) for kit form, or do what I did on the last Engine Shed and Car Shop brass, and assemble it myself offering it Un-Painted with a base. Time will tell.

The artwork is at the etcher awaiting approval. I was told that the Proofer was not coming in till tomorrow. Hopefully she will get to my artwork then. Just an update!

Tim,

I cannot wait to see it in Z scale. It would look really great on the Zo Cal modular layout.

Semi Bad News! Just finally got in touch with the etching artwork guru and she said they had problems last week with email and she did not receive the artwork. No biggie, I dug around in the SENT file and forwarded it back to her. Almost 2 weeks waisted, but it's there now. Just awaiting the reply for corrections/OK to Etch and we'll proceed from there!

More Updates to come!

I completely forgot about this message thread I started awhile back. Anyways, I wanted to let everyone know I received these etchings on the latest sheets, but, it just so happens that these etchings also were missing detail as were the SD70ACe handrails. The etcher will be etching a new batch, hopefully this week!!! Crossing my fingers!!

NICE! :woohoo:
They don't look too crude to me. I love the base electrical box and gussets.
Very nice!

The signal is indeed a beauty, but unfortunately the word crude was used to state other discrepencies about it. Namely the fact that it is a bit over sized. This will be remedied soon to be as close to prototypical as possible with current materials.

I do hope to make many of these, and for myself a few that are operational for my modules. They will be engineered so that a modeler can make any of them operational using 0402 LEDs. Stay Tuned!
