I just got some parts in with the new material and I will say that it is a great improvement in RP material ! The 2-bay hopper came out with outstanding resolution, defect free ultra-fine internal cross bracing cables and the 'bar' underneath that the dump plates swing from !

Jeff brought over his new pieces and the detail is excellent! This stuff really is smooth, and the detail very fine! :)

Check out the posting on the Trainboard N scale forum:

Seems Shapeways materials supplier can not keep up with the demand.

This is the letter that shapeway sent to me three and a half weeks after i placed the order

Dear Dwight,

We regret to inform you that we have not been able to send you your
models ordered on the 25th of May.
We are very sorry to disappoint you and we do not like to do so.
We have underestimated the massive demand for Frosted Ultra Detail and
have had the misfortune of machines failing on top!
In recent weeks our Management and Supply Chain Teams have worked
tirelessly to resolve these backlogs but unfortunately we are not quite
there yet. We are focusing on a more efficient prioritization and
planning of orders as well as increasing the production capacity across
all material types.
At present we cannot provide a revised delivery date but will strive to
update you on this quickly.
Please rest assured that we are doing all we can to produce and ship
your order as soon as we can.
Should you have further questions or comments please do not hesitate to
contact us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused by this delay.

Best regards,
The Shapeways Team

Thanks Fred for keeping an eye on this.

We knew that it was an introductory/trial period price.

The new price structure means that I need to adjust several of my models. There are a few that will be cheaper, and several that I must put into groups to keep them affordable.

For example, the Dolomite container shpws.me/1QQF will need to be put in a group of "many" to keep them at the same price as it was during the trial period. The difficulty is going to be that the group itself will need to be around $25 before the price per item starts dropping.

Anyone need 62 Dolomites?
