The Davenport looks very interesting.. one small problem.. the Thek chassis is wider across than the nose on the Davenport. But.. we might be able to stretch the shell a little :)

I was just surprised how much your design looks like the Davenport, although I thought the Davenport hood was too narrow for the mechanism in Z. But if you could fit the windows alongside the hood and leave enough room for the propane tank on the catwalk it would be a really good approximation. :)

This is lovely work, Stoney. The critter has a look of of a Porter or a Davenport about it. Check these out:

I like the look of that stack, bell, and light.

Stony... Can you make this available in other materials, directly from Shapeways? Brass? Silver? Gold?

I can Alex, but they would cost a very pretty penny with the price of gold being what it is. Brass would work also.

There has been some breakage of the rails on the first few prints. I thickened up the rails slightly, but then I had a brainstorm.. what about tucking the railings inside for protection during shipping?

Anybody like/dislike this idea?

Still likely to be very fragile, but the beefing them up a bit sure couldn't hurt things.

Good idea,

I like to play with my toys, are the rails, when tucked inside, strong enough for that? te

Having received my first GS1 and seeing the rail damage, I have to suggest making a rail set from brass or some other material and adding them on after painting and detailing. You could position holes for mounting these rails when the 3D printing is done.

PS: Beautiful job on the shell :)
