Most of the price difference is that you get 6 over the super elevated track sections per package versus 4 of the standard curved. So you get 50% more!

I was comparing the "Rokuhan R064 Super Elevated Track R195 30 Degree for $17.25" to the "Rokuhan R032 Curved Track R195 30 Degree for $11.85" Both contain six pieces. Both make a half circle of track.

The "Rokuhan R002 Curved Track R195 45 Degree for $7.75" is a real bargain when you consider it also makes a half circle of track and does it with fewer joints.

Hoping the price difference is a miscalculation based on qty.

Excuse me, but I'm not understanding your line here. The two pieces of track are not the same. The new elevated track required a new mold to make the road-bed and more plastic is involved.

Do an internet search. You may find another seller with a different price point. But, I will repeat my previous statement... Rokuhan is the first in Z-scale to produce and market super-elevated track.

The $11/$17 ratio appears to be the same for Kato N scale. The important question is whether the price difference is a value. How long would one take cutting and placing the 0.8mm shims on that half circle of track? In my case, I think the time I would spend on super elevation is worth more than the $5+ cost.

There is all kinds of math, that I can not even begin to comprehend, that deals with easements and super elevation. From what I understand, if you have super elevation, you should build easements too. I guess it would look cool if you are doing Japanese high speed rail, and any additional track pieces from anyone in Z would always be welcome, but, to each his own. Nothing that could not be made using MTL flex. I would suggest to look up what the NMRA says about it.
Myself, I am doing Cb&Q in S. Illinois. Miles and miles of straight track. Nothing fast enough to need Super elevated anything.

Kelly,
The NMRA practices are informative, but there are some quick approximations. For example I plan on using one radius larger as the lead-in to the elevated curves.

What's to understand about my line? I said wow pricey. I'm surprised they are selling it for so much. Just an FYI, there isn't $0.05 more material in the new one vs old and the mold costs would be about the same for both parts.

Ztracks price is less than the list price Rokuhan announced, so I am not pointing the finger at them. I am not knocking Rokuhan for their innovation either, I have been impressed with the engineering of their track. But setting such a high price for it will definitely limit sales. I still want to check it out, but probably only for a single curve.
