I am sure there are people on it as I am writing this. Bet they are in California too ;)

Not really. Just know the parts are out there and it looks doable. I REALLY want a gas electric doodlebug car. That is what I wish for.

Farther down the road, if these cars become standard and easier to come by, I could see folks customizing them to match prototypes, using etched, plastic or acrylic sides, like they do with HO N and other scales. They look good as they are, but these could be great for kit bashers

Hi Kelley,
in your link is a electric railcar, but not an gas-elctric doodlebug. Haven't found any pictures of heavyweight doodlebugs, the one I know are more or less based on smooth side baggage or passenger cars. David Freehling made a great ATSF one a couple of years ago based on a Marsilius passenger car and one powered truck with a chopped MTL chassis.
Hi haven't got heavyweights by now. I wait for proper green ones.

Hi Gerd.
Yep these are not doodlebugs. Those things in the picture is something like the German S-bahn but in Chicago. Those things that ran past the Blues Brother's flophouse. I was just thinking out loud. The picture I posted are pure electric and a doodle bug is a totally different animal of course.
I have a bunch of pics and diagrams of doodlebugs and know where one can get a book with the ones the CB&Q had if you are interested. Doodlebugs came in all kinds of sizes and it is almost that one looks different from the next. I could do some quick measurements from my books, and see if the Budd RDC would work for a chassis to fit one of them. ;)
I am thinking these new heavyweights, like the N and HO ones, could be a great base to make specific cars for specific railroads. Nothing wrong with them as is. There is just a whole industry in the other scales of modifying passenger cars, and if there is enough of these on the market, I think some interesting things could come out of it.

Kelley here is a photo for you:

Note the heavyweight painted yellow for MOW. Also check out the MOW cars. These almost look like Gerd's new wood sheathed boxcar. What a classic photo of moment in time.

Thank you so much. I REALLY want a couple of those box cars. And I will definitely want the heavyweights for MOW cars..On the CB&Q they were orange that faded to all kinds of shades. Lemmie see if I can find some more pics.

I would take F-3s and FTs even with the old F-7 guts. A know a lot of people who would not, but I would not mind, if they would be improved to take DCC easier. I do hope I find a job and have money coming in when the CB&Q GP7s come out. I would like a set of 3
Lets see what the heavyweight coaches are going to look like, I think they would be the ones to turn into the inter urban electric cars.People could build an Elevated train in their towns!
