18-9 2:12:43 soccrdad30 nite Thom
18-9 2:12:32 soccrdad30 oh, 3,800.00
18-9 2:12:16 GNFan Bye, Thom.
18-9 2:11:52 rvn2001 Good luck, Stony.
18-9 2:11:42 rvn2001 Well guyz, I'm gonna go check to zee that all of my trainz are ztill running. Z y'all later.
18-9 2:09:42 rvn2001 The Atcheson, Topeka & Stony-Fe SD40-2
18-9 2:09:29 stonysmith I meant $5 for the SD40
18-9 2:09:16 stonysmith I have zero plan for paying $3800
18-9 2:08:15 soccrdad30 either way Stony, good luck, and for only $300.00 you may just want to pay it
18-9 2:07:42 stonysmith I'm up to $5
18-9 2:07:34 stonysmith two of the radio-advertising "tax resolution" people have already said "oh.. we meant federal only"
18-9 2:07:26 soccrdad30 :)
18-9 2:06:05 DAZed :P
18-9 2:05:57 DAZed let's get back to this SD40-2 business
18-9 2:05:44 DAZed anyway, I would (a) not pay it and (b) fight it...or not.
18-9 2:05:12 DAZed but they have a responsibility to inform you in a certain time period.
18-9 2:04:42 stonysmith "collections"... it has no expiration
18-9 2:04:28 stonysmith That's when they bring up that idea that if it's in
18-9 2:04:01 soccrdad30 I would find a tax attorney and consult with them
18-9 2:03:55 DAZed it is common practice that tax documenation does not need to be held more than 7 years
18-9 2:03:52 stonysmith I'll give you $0 now and tomorrow. Tag you're it.
18-9 2:02:42 DAZed I think a good attorney could argue that the timeframe is not reasonable
18-9 2:01:54 DAZed sure you can. I'll either give you $1200 now, or I'll pay an attorney and you'll get $300 if you're lucky.
18-9 2:01:28 rvn2001 I haven't paid federal or state income tax since the year after I retired...because I don't get enough to file.
18-9 2:00:46 stonysmith you can't negotiate the penalties unless you tell them your current wages
18-9 1:59:58 stonysmith first time that whole snail mail thing has been in my benefit :)
18-9 1:59:38 rvn2001 Interesting....
18-9 1:59:29 DAZed lol
18-9 1:59:27 DAZed why didn't you say so.
18-9 1:59:15 stonysmith They sent a letter to my son's address
18-9 1:59:13 DAZed oh, well there you go.
18-9 1:58:52 stonysmith Well.. they don't (yet) know what my real address is.
18-9 1:57:24 DAZed I probably would not vacation there
18-9 1:57:07 DAZed I wonder what the impact is if you did nothing. I think I would negotiate with them about the penalties
18-9 1:56:47 soccrdad30 I hate to say this, but the IRS sucks. One year my first wife and I had the IRS do our taxes when they helped (in the early 80's) needless to say they screwed up and we went around in circles with them and had to pay some federal taxes that were owed. and they are stiff on penalties too.
18-9 1:56:21 stonysmith definitely not federal
18-9 1:56:05 stonysmith yes
18-9 1:54:56 DAZed so this is state income tax then?
18-9 1:53:08 rvn2001 I guess they need money really badly to wait 25 years.
18-9 1:52:41 stonysmith there's a tiny chance that I owe something for the 7 days of 2000
18-9 1:52:20 stonysmith if it's for tax year 1999, then i'd only owe something if my filing was wrong..
18-9 1:51:16 rvn2001 Is there apossibility that you owe it?
18-9 1:50:45 soccrdad30 I would think, they need proof to force you to pay
